Peter Bober
Hollywood's next chapter.
Attorney, former Mayor & Commissioner, and life-long resident of the City of Hollywood.
Attorney, former Mayor & Commissioner, and life-long resident of the City of Hollywood.
Peter grew up in Hollywood and is a lifelong resident. As a boy, he walked to school each morning at Hollywood Hills Elementary and, ultimately, attended Nova High School. After graduation, he attended the University of Texas at Austin and, later, the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he served as a Senior Editor of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review. But there was never really a question of where he'd end up. Hollywood is home.
His father left Cuba in 1960 to build a new life in this country, met Peter's mother, and the two of them chose Hollywood to put down roots and raise a family. Peter and his own children grew up here too, attending public schools just down the street from City Hall. In 2000, at 27, he became Hollywood's youngest elected official and its first Hispanic official.
Peter went on to serve eight years as a City Commissioner and, from 2008 to 2016, as Mayor, overseeing a budget of nearly half a billion dollars and roughly 1,500 city employees, while also chairing the Hollywood Community Redevelopment Agency and the Broward County Workforce Development Board. He stepped back from elected office in 2016 by choice — but he never stopped caring about Hollywood's future, and he isn't going anywhere. Peter is a small businessperson and has maintained a law practice in Hollywood for nearly 25 years. Now, he's ready to give more.
These are the values Peter is running on, and the standards he'll uphold at City Hall.
Leadership judged by an open record — transparent decision-making residents can trust.
Public resources and historic character don't grow back once they're gone. Residents deserve a real say in major decisions.
Attracting quality investment citywide — not just downtown and the beach — so homeowners aren't left carrying the tax burden.
A city residents are proud of, where neighborhoods and storefronts reflect real civic pride.
Building on Hollywood's legacy of conservation to protect its land, water, and green space for the next generation.
Less division, more listening — a City Hall where disagreement doesn't have to mean disrespect.
A strong advocate for local public schools and the young families who choose to call Hollywood home.
Revitalizing downtown into a place people genuinely want to live, work, and spend an evening.
"I will strive to build consensus, keep an open ear, and always put this City first."Peter Bober
